Every Ablaze course is DMV-approved, self-paced, and completed entirely online. This page walks you through the whole process — choosing the right course, enrolling, working through the material, passing the final exam, and getting your certificate into the right hands.
Most students are enrolled and learning within five minutes of paying.

Why You’re Probably Here
Most of our students arrive for one of these reasons. Any of them can be handled with a course on this site.
A court ordered it. Your court paperwork will tell you which course and which length you need. Check it before you enroll — a 4-hour program won’t satisfy a 12-hour order.
The DMV requires it. If the DMV has directed you to a driver improvement clinic, you must complete the full eight-hour course within 90 days. Miss that deadline and your driving privilege is suspended until you meet the requirement.
You’re reinstating a revoked license. The course is part of the reinstatement process.
You volunteered. Any Virginia license holder can take the 8-hour course to earn up to 5 safe driving points. Many insurers also offer a premium discount for completing it — ask your provider whether they participate before you enroll.
You’re 55 or older. Our RoadWise programs are built for mature drivers and qualify for a mature-driver insurance discount in Virginia.
Step 1: Choose Your Course
This is the only step where a wrong turn costs you time. Pick the course that matches your requirement — if a court sent you, match your paperwork exactly.

Taking RADEP? It is a 12-hour program completed in two parts, and the 8-hour clinic must be finished before the 4-hour segment. Some Virginia courts require RADEP to be taken in person and will not accept an online course — confirm the format with your court before you register.
All online courses are available in 28 languages, so you can complete your requirement in the language you understand best.

Step 2: Enroll and Pay
Choose your course, then click Enroll to go to secure checkout. We accept PayPal, credit, and debit — no PayPal account required to pay by card.
Once your payment clears, your course access link is emailed to the address you used at checkout. Use an address you actually check: that same address receives your certificate of completion at the end.
From there you’ll create a secure account. Your account saves your progress, so you never have to redo a chapter you’ve already finished.

Step 3: Learn at Your Own Pace
There’s no schedule, no class time, and no deadline on our end — only the one your court or the DMV gave you.
Go at whatever speed suits you. Finish in one sitting or spread it across two weeks. Log out mid-chapter and you’ll return to the exact spot you left.
Use any device. The course runs on phones, tablets, laptops, and desktops. All you need is an internet connection.
Quiz as you go. Each chapter ends with a short review quiz. Pass it and you move to the next chapter. These quizzes are there to reinforce the material, not to trip you up.
The material is built around real Virginia driving situations rather than abstract rules, which is a large part of why 98% of our students pass the final exam on their first attempt.
Step 4: Finish Your Course
The session and question counts below apply to the 8-hour Driver Improvement clinic, which ends in a graded final exam. RADEP is a completion-based program — finish the full course and your Certificate of Completion is emailed immediately. If you’re enrolled in another one of our programs, your course materials will tell you what’s required, or call 877.674.6633 and we’ll confirm it.
Once you’ve worked through all 11 sessions and completed the end-of-chapter review questions, the final exam unlocks.

- 80% to pass — you need at least 40 correct
- Graded electronically, with your result on screen immediately
If you don’t pass, you can retake the course online for free until you do. There’s no additional charge and no limit on how many times you can go through it.
You must complete the course in full before a certificate can be issued, and the exam must be taken online through a DMV-licensed clinic. Paper tests are not permitted for online courses.
Your identity is verified at points throughout the course and again before the final exam, to confirm that the person who took the course is the person taking the test.
Step 5: Get Certified
Your certificate is emailed immediately once you pass or finish your course, with printing instructions included.
For the driver improvement clinic, the document you receive is the Online Driver Improvement Clinic Certificate of Completion (DIC 552B) — the standardized DMV certificate. This is the only document the Department and Virginia courts accept as proof that you completed an online driver improvement clinic, so keep a copy.
You’ll need a PDF reader to view and print it. Adobe Acrobat Reader is free if you don’t already have one.
Your DMV record is updated within 24 business hours. We report directly to the Virginia DMV — you don’t need to send anything in yourself.
If a court sent you: you must provide documentation from the court before safe driving points can be awarded. Get that to us so your record reflects the credit.
If you’re after an insurance discount: send your certificate to your insurer directly. Discounts vary by company, and your provider decides eligibility, not us.
Before You Enroll: The Fine Print
A few things worth knowing up front.
- You’ll need to be comfortable working independently on a computer or phone. There’s no instructor walking you through the online courses.
- The online driver improvement course and its final test must be completed through a DMV-licensed online clinic. We are one — our current Virginia DMV license is displayed in the footer of every page on this site.
- The eight-hour course must be completed in its entirety, final test included, before a certificate is issued.
- If the DMV directed you here, you must finish within 90 days. Miss that deadline and your driving privilege is suspended until you meet the requirement.
- Our courses are DMV-licensed, but we recommend confirming acceptance with your specific court if you were referred by one.
